The French Way Campaign

To celebrate their French heritage, Sofitel launched a new global brand campaign, ‘Live The French Way’ which invited their guests to travel, eat, sleep, stay, and Live the French way, at Sofitel Hotels & Resorts. 

We got to #livethefrenchway on this shoot for Sofitel Melbourne On Collins.

It was a mammoth of a shoot with 6 crew over 2 days capturing all the luxuriously refurbished guest rooms, decadent food and beverage outlets and all that the Paris end of Melbourne has to offer.

Pre-production

During the pre-production stages, the client was very involved and hands-on from the beginning of the project, providing us with inspirational videos and discussing the requirements and expectations over a few meetings. This facilitated the creation of a detailed brief that would be the framework for the project.

Planning Stage 

The brief provided by the client was incredibly detailed. This brief outlined colour pallets, moods, tones, feel and a suggested talent scope. Our DOP Adam was able to scope out the space and plan how things could be shot, lit and scheduled. 

We were set the task of finding a male and female couple to take us through the journey of staying at the Sofitel. It was a tough choice, but we narrowed it down to a great combo Debra and Niel, who worked incredibly well together on camera.  

Once we had gone through and mapped out each scene, camera movements and time tracking from location to location, we were ready for the shoot. 

“Very easy going, easy to deal with and to chat through options and also gave us great ideas and examples as this was the first time for myself as a Marketing Manager to coordinate a video shoot for our hotel.”

Shooting

We had our lead camera operators on the job and even went to the lengths to fly our DOP from Sydney to join in on the adventure. We had a team of five come together to shoot 14 scenes over three days in various locations across the hotel. It was a busy few days, but we wrapped on time each day due to excellent planning in preproduction on each scene. Everything ran incredibly smooth. 

Throughout the day, we made notes of the best takes which helped the editors pull the narrative together. We completed three 12-hour days, and the team, talent and client were all on board the entire time with great attitudes. It was a lot of fun. 

“The entire team and set-up is extremely professional. From their Wemov uniforms to their punctuality starting the day early and being prepared, was key to running the shoot as smooth as it did. Being open to suggestions and ideas during the course of shooting day also gave us the flexibility to change things if they didn’t work, or off script”

Final Product

We replicated exactly what we discussed in our initial meeting with and had a very happy client when the final HD’s were sent through. 

“Our final video was outstanding, it truly shows the professional output that was received by the Wemov team. We also received social outputs of our promotional video which we were really pleased with.”
