Hawker 88
In addition to the Summer and Winter Night Market, this year Queen Vic launched Hawker 88; a market that ‘brings the tastes, sights and sounds of the Orient to Melbourne’s favourite market’ during Spring time.
From Chinese Dragon Dance performances to over 20 street food stalls to ‘weird, wacky and wonderful’ Asian wares, there’s lots to experience!
The Brief
Our job on the night of shooting this amazing event was to capture all of the above and more!
Event Profile video coverage is really powerful because it communicates the atmosphere of the event and can be re-experienced over again after the event has finished.
That is why year after year we’ve worked with Queen Vic and developed promotional video material for the markets to showcase all the exciting things that can be enjoyed there.
This content is then shared across social platforms and networks.
Main Challenge and Solution of the Hawker 88 Video Shoot
The main challenge of this shoot was the amount of events, stands, entertainment and food to cover while navigating the popular and packed market space.
To overcome this we strategically filmed as a unit, making our way through the market and started with food stalls, which tend to get more busy as the night unfolds.
Due to the crowds and queues, it was important that we simultaneously focused on filming the most popular places first before they sold out of signature dishes.
We also had to pay attention to timing and the entertainment schedule to ensure we didn’t miss event highlights.
